My Journey

I majored in Metal Craft in university and spent ten years working as a jewelry designer in Taiwan. Over time, I realized that sketching concepts without being able to fully control the final outcome left me feeling limited. This led me to explore leatherwork on my own, and in 2014, I founded my leather accessory brand.

What began with simple leather goods gradually evolved into leather jewelry. Traditional leathercraft tends to value uniform colors and functional forms, but I felt drawn to break free from those boundaries. I experimented with splashed dyes, unique textures, and shaping leather into mineral-like forms—developing an artistic language that continues to grow with me.

The Beginning of Botanical Leather Art

In 2020, when the pandemic reshaped daily life, houseplants became a comforting presence at home. Many plants I loved were rare or difficult to obtain, and that challenge sparked a new idea:
What if I created the plants myself?
This became the starting point for my botanical leather artworks, a series that reflects both nature’s beauty and the possibilities of the material.

Why Vegetable-Tanned Leather

I work primarily with vegetable-tanned leather for its clean, natural surface—an ideal canvas for color and expression. The material is tanned using plant-derived tannins that bond with collagen fibers, giving the leather strength, stability, and longevity.
When shaped into botanical forms, it creates a sense of life extending from life —a beautiful continuation that aligns with my creative philosophy.

Creative Philosophy

Nature is my greatest source of inspiration. Whether it’s the quiet presence of houseplants or the intricate patterns of ocean life, every detail offers a story.

Plants may seem still, yet they grow continuously and gracefully.
I believe that slow growth is also a form of movement.

Even after more than a decade of working with leather, I continue discovering new possibilities within the material. I hope to share its expressive potential—showing that leather can be not only functional but also artistic, poetic, and alive.

A New Chapter in Canada

In the summer of 2025, I moved from Taiwan to Vancouver with my family. This transition marked a completely new chapter in both life and creativity. Surrounded by Canada’s beautiful landscapes, I’ve found fresh energy, new perspectives, and a renewed sense of exploration.
